The Vivo Y21d is a budget-friendly smartphone released by Vivo in September 2025. Its most prominent features are its robust IP69+ dust and water resistance, a large 6500mAh battery with 44W fast charging, and a 50MP main camera.
It is currently available in Nigeria in several variants.
Key specifications
- Display: 6.68-inch HD+ LCD screen with a 90Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1000 nits.
- Processor: T7225 octa-core chipset (a rebranded Unisoc T612). It runs on Android 15 with Vivo's Funtouch OS 15.
- Memory and storage: Available in three configurations:
- 4GB RAM with 128GB ROM
- 6GB RAM with 128GB ROM
- 6GB RAM with 256GB ROM
- Cameras: A dual rear camera setup features a 50MP main sensor and a 0.08MP depth sensor. The front-facing camera is 5MP.
- Battery: A 6500mAh capacity battery that supports 44W FlashCharge. A full charge from 0% to 50% can be achieved in under 40 minutes.
- Durability: The phone is rated IP68 and IP69+ for dust and water resistance, meaning it can withstand high-pressure water jets and underwater submersion.
- Design: An 8.39mm slim body with a composite plastic back and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
- Audio: It features a "wet-hand touch" technology, which allows for smooth screen control even when your hands are wet.
Performance and user experience
While the phone offers excellent durability and battery life, some reviews note that the Unisoc T7225 processor is less powerful than competing chips, such as the Helio G99 found in similarly priced devices. This may lead to a less smooth experience for intensive tasks, though it is adequate for everyday use.
