  2025 Several significant events have taken place in 2025, and there are more to come.   Politics Trump's second inauguration:  Donald Trump was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States on January 20, beginning his second, non-consecutive term in office. H-1B visa restrictions:  The U.S. government implemented new, stricter H-1B visa fees and policies, including a $100,000 fee for new applications and higher wage standards. G20 and COP30 summits:  South Africa hosted the G20 summit for the first time in November, while the COP30 climate conference was held in Belém, Brazil, in the Amazon rainforest. Global elections:  Several countries, including Canada, Germany, and the Philippines, held national elections.
